The historic Hotel Formentor, inaugurated in 1929 on the Formentor peninsula (Mallorca), has been completely renovated to become the Four Seasons Resort Mallorca at Formentor.
It was rebuilt and expanded with new facilities such as a spa, event halls, and interior gardens, adding comfort while preserving the hotel’s iconic identity.
The project was led by Estudio Lamela, in collaboration with the Parisian studio Gilles & Boissier for interior design and Raison d’Etre for the spa.
It achieved the first LEED Gold certification in the Balearic Islands, thanks to improvements in energy efficiency, thermal and acoustic insulation, façade restoration, and the adoption of sustainable technologies such as water management, solar energy, and native vegetation.
The resort features 110 rooms and suites —some with private pools and all with terraces overlooking the sea—, slightly reducing the number of units compared to the original hotel to prioritize space and comfort.
The partial opening took place in summer 2024, allowing bookings from late August, while the full reopening is scheduled for March 2025, with the spa and other services fully operational.
